Marcella ‘Ma’ K. Mielke

Marcella Katherine (Ma) Mielke of Montesano passed away on March 12 at Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma, Wash. She was 89. Marcella was born Sept. 29, 1923, in Zumbrota, Minn. to Oscar and Edith (Henrichs) Heydmann.

On Aug. 29, 1942, she married Clarence Oscar Mielke in Zumbrota, Minn. They had seven children and had lived in Minnesota before moving to Washington in 1967.

Marcella was a homemaker and loved to cook, bake, sew and spend time with her children and numerous grandchildren.

Family was very important to her and was the glue that kept everyone together. In 1981, she and her husband Clarence retired and started dividing their time between Arizona and Washington. Marcella was a member of the Lutheran Church, Montesano VFW, Moose Lodge and the Eagles. She is survived by her seven wonderful children, Bonnie (Ron) Eidem of Kasson, Minn., Gary (Laura) Mielke of McCleary, Wash., Larry (Gwen) Mielke, of Elma, Cynthia (Stuart) Gerr of Deer River, Minn., Julene (Michael) Donovick of Aberdeen, Wash., Debi (Dan) Fisher of Elma, and Lisa Rowland and Don of Elma; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, a sister, Marlene (Harvey) Busby, numerous nieces and nephews and a very special friend Anna Williams.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Mielke, parents Edith and Oscar Heydmann, a daughter, Marie Kay, a brother, Bill Heydmann and a grandson, Travis Mielke.

A celebration of life potluck took place Tuesday, March 19, at the Montesano Moose Lodge.
