Carla A. Oakes

Carla Ann Oakes, a longtime Grays Harbor resident, January 25, 2014 at Saint Peter Hospital in Olympia. She was 61.

A celebration of her life will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 13, at the Whiteside Family Mortuary in Elma. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Whiteside Family Mortuary in Elma.

Charles Henry Carpenter

Charles Henry Carpenter, 87, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at the Puget Sound Health Care facility in Olympia. He was a lifetime McCleary resident and former mill worker at Simpson Door Co.

A memorial service will be conducted from noon to 4 p.m. at the McCleary Community Center on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014. He will be inurned at the Masonic Cemetery of Elma.

Arrangements are by Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.

Ross Jacobus

Former Elma resident Ross Jacobus died on Jan. 26, 2014, in Port Townsend. He was 88 years old.

Jacobus graduated from Elma High School in 1942. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy. He served as a stevedore and baker in the Seabees with Battalion 35th Special at Pearl Harbor.

A memorial service will be conducted at noon on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home in Seattle.

Richard L. Larson

OLYMPIA — Richard Louis Larson, a longtime Grays Harbor resident, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. He was 59.

Arrangements are by the Whiteside Family Mortuary in Elma.

Vanis Henry Bush

Vanis Henry Bush, 93, of Central Park resident, died Sunday February 2, 2014, at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam.

Buch was a former Cutterman Foreman at ITT Rayonier. He grew up in Cedarville and joined the U.S. Army during WWII and was a combat engineer for 3 1/2 years in the Pacific Theater in New Guinea and Luzon.

A graveside service was conducted on Feb. 8, 2014, at Fern Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, Aberdeen.

Arrangements are by Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
