Darrell Michael Brooking, 55, died Thursday, December 26, 2013 tragically in a fire at his Montesano home.
Darrell was born May 11, 1958, in Walla Walla, Washington to Ronald and Shirley (Wilkins) Brooking. The family moved to Aberdeen in 1968 where he graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1976. After graduation, he moved to Portland, Oregon where he worked for Oregon State Fish and Wildlife. He returned to the harbor in 1990 to help take care of his father and has resided in the family home ever since.
He enjoyed following his nieces and nephews sports activities and spending time with his dog Brutus at the lake.
He is survived by his sister Deborah (Duaine) Badgley, nieces; Kimberley (Ron) Malizia, Christina (James) Woodward, Sara Badgley and nephew Alex Badgley along with six great-nieces and nephews all of Montesano.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and beloved sister Dianna Backman.
Family and friends will miss his eccentric sense of humor along with his love of glitter and bubbles.
