I have the feeling that some of The Vidette readers have probably decided that Satsop School was no longer contributing an article to the paper. That is really not the case. It was just a case of Murphy’s law at work. I had a bit of a medical procedure which turned out to be atypical, so I have not been here to write about our events.
At the end of March our students participated in the American Heart Association Jump-a-Thon. For such a small student body, we had phenomenal results. Forty-one of our students participated, and they turned in $2,031.57. The student turning in the most money for our school was Mikhaila Silvas. We are very proud of everyone’s great effort on the Jump-a-thon, and we would also like to thank those of you who helped out our kids.
We had three children that received the “Caught Being Good” award today. They were Christian Torres, Kyleah Carl and Natalia Horton. They have been extra helpful lately around here, and we appreciate them.
For some reason, we have been acquiring more rummage than usual this year, so we will be having another gym sale on Friday and Saturday, May 2-3. It will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Please mark that on your calendar and come early for the best selection. Prices are always good at our sale.
Coming up soon is also our Mother’s Day event, which will be held on Friday, May 9. There will be entertainment, fun and refreshments.
Also, on Friday, May 16, parents in the Satsop School District may register their children for next year’s kindergarten session. An appointment time needs to be scheduled by calling (360) 482-5330.
To be eligible for kindergarten, a child must be 5 years of age before Aug. 21, 2014. A valid legal birth certificate and current immunization records are required at the time of registration. Legal birth certificates can be obtained through the Grays Harbor County Health Department in Aberdeen.
So, despite what you might have thought, we are still very busy and enjoying many aspects of spring! Hope you are doing the same!
