For both East Grays Harbor County high schools, Elma and Montesano, this past weekend marked another pivitol moment for students. Ending the school year for the seniors. The 2013 class of Elma at 111, is a small increase to last year’s class as the attending family members, friends and extended families of the Eagles had to squeeze into the Grays Harbor Pavailion on Saturday, June 8. For Montesano and their class of 88, the school’s Bo Griffith Memorial Gymnasium was overflowing as extra seats had to be added at the last minute, the following day.
Both schools celebrated in traditional fashion with their programs highlighting graduating seniors in choirs, bands and speakers. A combined 101 students out of the 199 graduates received scholarships this year, ten have opted for military service.
