Elma Students of the month

Elma High School April Students of the Month in cooperation with the Elma-McCleary Lions Club.

The April recipients are juniors Mady Swartz and Todd Swinhart, each receiving a $25 award.

Mady Swartz, daughter of Mandy and Roger Swartz of McCleary, is a member of the Elma Skills USA and Drill teams.

Swartz has competed at state for both teams and recently won two silver awards at the Skills USA State competition.

She plans to attend college to become a registered nurse.

“Mady is in the first year of Skills USA and has excelled in both animal careers and community service. She jumps in and does what needs to be done,” said Dave Rutherford, Agriculture Science Teacher and Skills USA Advisor.

Todd Swinhart, son of Terri and Bob Swinhart of Elma, plays both football and baseball for the Eagles. Swinhart was selected to the first team all-league as a wide receiver. When not involved in sports Swinhart spends his time with his friends and playing video games.

Swinhart will attend college on a baseball scholarship pursuing a career in sports management.

“Todd is having a great season for us. He is a catalyst of our offense and successful at bats in the lead offensive position,” said Scott Rowland, EHS Head Baseball Coach.
