Schafer State Park near Elma will host its annual Bring in the Yule Log celebration and Christmas sing-along at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Children will hunt for a specially marked log in the nearby forest, then everyone joins in to haul it back to the fire place in the community hall. (Half the log is burned and the other half saved to kindle next year’s fire.)
There will be warm beverages, cookies a hot fire and Christmas music.
The annual tradition, started more than 50 years ago, is sponsored by the Friends of Schafer and Lake Sylvia and the state park staff. The public is welcome, but a Discovery Pass is required for entry to the park. The cost $10 for a day pass or $30 for an annual pass.
