Brendan Carl | The Vidette Elma and Montesano High School students pose for a picture moments before the presentation of the Food Bowl trophy on Tuesday. Montesano won the competition for the fourth straight year. The Monte Food Bowl team collected 14,940 pounds of canned items and $31,501.14 for a grand total of 77,942.28 pounds of food. Elma students collected 14,220 pounds of canned items and $20,627.68 for a total of 55,475.36 of food. While the amount of pounds of canned goods were up for Elma, pounds for Monte and dollars from both schools were down. The two schools conducted several events from Dec. 5-16 in order to collect funds and food that will all be donated to the four East County food banks.
