ELMA — Expect some roadwork to go with the recent sewer improvements on Strawberry Hill. On Monday, the Elma City Council approved a change order of $38,889 to replace much of the road in the original neighb orhood. “The section of street just happens to be the worst section of asphalt in the original neighborhood,” Public Works Director Jim Starks said. “Over the years, it has deteriorated to a patch on top of a patch and did not hold up to the construction activity.”
The city’s street maintenance budget will find $10,000 of the project with the balance coming out of the sewer fund. Councilwoman Debbie Thurman was the only one to vote against the proposal Monday night.
