Home owners in the Satsop area may notice an increase in helicopters next month during a military training exercise slated to take place at the Satsop Business Park.
The Regional Education and Training Center at Satsop says that the “Raven’s Challenge VII” will include “a regional interoperability exercise lead by the Department of Justice, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - ATF’s National Center for Explosive Training and Research with over 200 participants, personnel, observers and vendors per day, invited to attend.”
The primary training events will take place August 13, 14 and 15, with set-up on August 12 and cleanup on August 16.
“There will be helicopter activity occurring during daylight business hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.,” the notice states. “Most flights will be consisting of drop off and pickup. The event will have dedicated helicopter support, and will keep an Army UH-60 at the landing zone.”
There will also be “a dedicated medical team will be on site supporting the event (ATF SRT Medics, King County Medic One, Grays Harbor Fire Dist. 5).
“We welcome the ATF and their partners for a successful training exercise at the Port of Grays Harbor Satsop Business Park in Elma,” the training center said in its notice.
