A Malone man was sentenced to at least 10 years for raping a 4-year-old girl, but could spend the rest of his life in prison.
John M. Weiller, 45, was sentenced May 19 in Grays Harbor Superior Court to 10 years, three months to life in prison for first-degree child rape. Weiller received an indeterminate sentence, and an Indeterminate Sentence Review Board will determine when or if he is released from prison.
The incidents allegedly started on June 1, 2012, when the girl was 2 years old, and continued until January, when the little girl told her mother what had been happening.
The mother told detectives that she was engaged in a conversation with her daughter “about correct touching and who can and cannot touch her private areas.”
The little girl “began crying during this discussion” and admitted that Weiller had “touched my privates one day at the house with the orange carpet,” according to charging documents Weiller had lived in a house in Aberdeen with orange carpets.
Weiller allegedly touched the girl when she was in bed trying to sleep and at least one additional time, the charging documents state.
Weiller allegedly admitted to detectives what had happened during an interview on Feb. 26, where he said he “had a lapse of judgment” when he saw the girl naked while they were in the same room.
