A family with three children lost most everything after their mobile home in Hidden Valley Mobile Home Park near Montesano was destroyed by a fire early Thursday morning.

A neighbor reported the fire at about 2:30 a.m., and firefighters quickly determined the home was not occupied. The fire spread inside the mobile home and to an attached port, threatening another home and the detached carport area. Fire crews put out the blaze in about 35 minutes, Fire District 2 Chief Leonard Johnson reported. They stayed at the scene throughout the morning to check for hot spots and help investigators.

The home was heavily damaged and the family was not able to return home. Chief Johnson said the family is being assisted by the The Red Cross and local friends and family in finding suitable shelter for the time being.

District 2 responded with three fire engines, three ambulances, a rescue unit and 15 firefighters. The Montesano Fire Department assisted with an engine and three firefighters.
