The Elma Police Department arrested a 19-year-old transient for breaking into the home of an 86-year-old woman Monday night, according to Police Chief Jeff Troumbley. At 11:51 p.m., Monday, the woman heard a noise in her garage that woke her up. She recognized a former neighbor going through her property, who ran as soon as he saw her.
Elma Police, along with the Grays Harbor Sheriff Deputy Deputy Tracy Gay and K-9 Max, responded. The dog was able to track the suspect from Sherry Place in Elma to the 1500 Block of West Anderson Street, where the suspect was located and arrested at the location without incident, Troumbley said.
The suspect was arrested on unspcified outstanding warrants and a charge of Burglary in the Second Degree.
