Herbert “Bert” Haubrick was named firefighter of the year by the Brady Firefighters Association for 2013. He has been a member of Fire District 2 since 2002.
At the age of 16, Haubrick joined his parents as a volunteer firefighter with Clallum County Fire District No. 3. After graduation from high school, he joined the Navy Reserve and training as a shipboard firefighter, later becoming an instructor.
Moving to Ocean Shores in 1988, he joined the Ocean Shores Fire Department and earned the certification of emergency medical technician. He was promoted to volunteer lieutenant and later captain, serving as a truck and engine officer. Haubrick also earned certification as a fire service instructor and wild land firefighter. He was voted Ocean Shores firefighter of the year in 1998.
