18-year-old killed when SUV flips over in Capitol Forest

A 23-year-old Lacey man was arrested and booked into Thurston County Jail on Monday night for suspicion of vehicular homicide after he flipped his SUV in the Capitol Forest, killing a passenger.

Trooper Guy Gill says that the passenger was standing with his head and upper body through the sunroof of the 1996 SUV when the vehicle hit a tree or other obstruction and rolled. The driver and two other passengers were not injured.

The accident happened at about 8:25 p.m. off the C-Line Road in the Capitol Forest, just on the other side of the Thurston-Grays Harbor countyline.

The person who died was identified as Alistair G. Martz, 18, of Olympia, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver is a 23-year-old from Lacey.
