ELMA — Bayview Building Materials was named as business of the fourth quarter. A plaque was presented to Rick Jensen and Bayview Building Materials during the Elma Chamber of Commerce’s general membership meeting Wednesday, Nov. 14.
The company was opened in 1961 by Bob Bush. In 2003, Rick Jensen and partner, Jim DePretto purchased the building. The partners have made many improvements, including a new entrance and a large storage building for plywood and other materials. This year, a new addition and a complete remodel are planned. There are currently 18 employees.
Bayview was honored because of its support to the business community in Elma. The business sponsors a Little League baseball team, 4-H youth livestock auction and other youth activities. It participates in and sponsors chamber events and activities, including the Wine and Seafood Festival, citywide garage sale, Heat on the Street car show, Buckaroo Days and downtown trick-or-treat. Jensen has served on the chamber’s board of directors for two years and serves as president this year.
Additionally, Bayview has donated materials and discounted materials for the restoration of the Elma Visitors Station.
