Are you thinking of a new backyard? Maybe you’re thinking of a new front yard? Or maybe you just want to add a little color?
The 2014 Home & Garden Show will be Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18, at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds, in Elma. The event runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free to the public.
Sponsored by both the Olympia Master Builders and the WSU Master Gardeners of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties, the annual two-day event brings vendors to help you with all your home-improvement ideas. The Home & Garden Show will feature exhibits arranged to take advantage of the season. From master gardeners to everything home-related, visitors will see the combination between the two sides of living. Booths will be set up both days including garden equipment, plant nurseries, mattress vendors, garage door companies and many others.
Marianne Binetti, noted Northwest gardening expert, will present “Inspiration for Your Garden from Ireland to Enumclaw” at noon on Sunday. Ms. Binetti will show you how to enjoy “stealing beauty” by looking with a fresh eye at gorgeous gardens from around the world and adapting these ideas to your own home garden.
At the plant clinic, WSU Master Gardeners will offer solutions to plant problems and suggest ways to enhance the gardening experience.
Buying lots of plants, but want to continue shopping? Drop your purchases at the Master Gardener plant-check booth and shop on. Hungry? Stop at the cookie booth for a treat.
There will also be a children’s booth this year where youth can color and post pictures of vegetables, flowers, and insects on the “wall garden.” There will be floating vegetable mountains, plus the “feely basket,” with natural textures to explore by hands and magnifying glass.
The 2014 Home and Garden Show brings all the local home and garden experts together. It’s your chance to ask questions, compare products, take notes and get gardening and remodeling ideas.
